MPs and the parliamentary speaker, Nahib Berri, are arguing about how to proceed with the voting procedures of the parliament secretaries.
Based on the national agreement, there are 2 positions available for the secretary of parliament – one reserved for Maronites and one for Druze.
However, for the first time, there are more than 2 candidates for the 2 vacancies. This led to confusion on how to proceed with voting for the 5 candidates.
The parliament finally agreed to have 2 separate voting – one to select among the Maronite candidates and one to select among the Druze candidates.
