A powerful explosion sound was heard in Beirut and the suburbs and several Lebanese areas, including in the south and Keserwan.

Reactions popped up immediately on social media with people expressing their anxiety and even panic as the Beirut Blast is still very fresh in their minds.

“Sound of an explosion or planes breaking the sound barrier heard in Beirut. Windows shook in my home. similar reports in South Lebanon,” tweeted Maya Yahya, director of the Malcolm H. Kerr Carnegie Middle East Center.

However, according to preliminary information, there was no explosion reported in Beirut and the surrounding area. The alarming sound appeared to have been more likely caused by mock raids or a breach of the sound wall by Israeli aircraft.

Most Lebanese continue to live their days with the post-traumatic stress of the horror they lived and/or witnessed, and the unhealed wounds in their hearts and spirits.

They also live their days with a strong sense of insecurity that an explosion similar to the Beirut Blast can occur anytime since the perpetrators haven’t been identified nor caught till now, due to the many interferences by politicians and/or political parties.

The Lebanese have lost their sense of safety as they go on with their lives.
