Several loud blasts were heard on Sunday evening by residents in the border village of Qasr located in the Hermel District of the Baalbek-Hermel Governorate.
According to local media, an explosion took place inside a warehouse of gas canisters. Preliminary information reported that the warehouse belonged to smugglers.
The Lebanese Civil Defense and Lebanese Red Cross rushed to the scene. So far, there are 7 wounded and one person is missing.
A military source cited by LBCI said that the blasts took place in warehouses belonging to a member of the Al-Obaid family.
He added that the warehouse is located inside Syrian territories just adjacent to the Lebanese-Syrian border and that the explosions occurred from the army checkpoint and there were no casualties among soldiers.
Update: According to LRC Secretary-General Georges Kettaneh, a total of 10 people were wounded in the explosion; 7 people, including one who was missing, were taken to the hospital while the others were treated on site.
