Major Jad Nemr, born in 1984, was found dead in his home in the Lebanese town of Ballouneh in Keserwan on Monday afternoon.
According to initial reports, Nemr sustained at least one bullet wound leading to his death. “We are facing a clear murder,” an informed source was quoted as saying by An-Nahar.
Nemr had served in the southern city of Sidon and was transferred to Bekaa a few weeks ago. The Lebanese Army has not commented as of yet. However, an investigation into the crime has been launched.
This is the latest in assassinations targeting members of the Lebanese Army or people close to the army. While investigations into these assassinations were launched, there are yet no answers.
