Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rahi just met with a delegation of Hezbollah in Bkerke, according to the NNA.
Ibrahim Amin Al-Sayyed, the chairman of the Political Council of Hezbollah, said “there is no old and new page with Patriarch Rahi, it is always open with him, and we are keen to elect a president.”
He went on to say “our country is going through very difficult conditions politically and economically, and electing a president is necessary and a priority.”
No further details about their discussion were immediately disclosed.
Patriarch al-Rahi has been quick to blast Hezbollah on stances and actions it deems anti-Lebanon.
Recently, Patriarch al-Rahi lashed out at Hezbollah over the attack on UNIFIL as well as for what it called an “encroachment” after it built structures near the southern Lebanese town of Rmeish.
