Who Is Brigadier General Maurice Slim, Lebanon’s New Minister Of Defense

Born in Kfarshima in 1954, retired Brigadier General Maurice Slim joined the military academy in 1972 and graduated 3 years later as a first lieutenant in the Artillery Regiment.

He took many roles as a leader in field units and has occupied many positions in the army.

Brig. Gen. Maurice Slim is licensed in law from the Lebanese University (L.U), and in Military Staff from The United States Army Command and General Staff College. That’s in addition to various military courses he took in Lebanon and abroad.

He held the position of president of Military Healthcare, serving at the head of Lebanon’s Military Hospital until his retirement in 2012.

As of Friday, Sept 10th, 2021, Brig. Gen. Maurice Slim is Lebanon’s Minister of Defense, chosen by President Aoun for the newly-formed cabinet of PM Najib Mikati.
