The Lebanese dance group, Mayyas, just performed alongside Beyonce for a private event in Dubai.
The Mayyas took the internet by storm after their win on America’s Got Talent last year. Their captivating performances filled with subtle Lebanese cultural symbols awe their audience, online and offline.
Last night, Beyonce was in full Lebanese mode. From hiring Mayyas to perform with her, to wearing a Lebanese designer, and even playing a Fairouz song.
Beyonce had said in previous interviews that she listens to Fairouz “a lot.”
It was a private event and attendees weren’t allowed to take pictures or videos. So unfortunately visual content is limited.
The concert was attended by a number of world celebrities, including her husband Jay Z, American model and reality TV star Kendall Jenner, British singer Liam Payne, American model Olivia Colbo, Indian actor Amer Khan, British actress Michelle Keegan and Emily in Paris star Ashley Park.
For one of her outfits, Beyonce chose Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran, who created a red princess-cut dress with gold sequin detailing and embellished sleeves.
The Mayyas group expressed their happiness on social media: “It was an absolute honour to share the stage with the one and only Queen Beyonce. This moment is dedicated to all the dreamers and believers of the world. Thank you @beyonce and the @parkwood team for allowing us to be a part of your magical world“
Nadim Chefran, head of the Mayyas group, shared how it was a dream come true: “To the artist of my life beyonce , thank you for making my dream come true. Thank you for being the humblest, most professional and phenomenal human that you are. I could live in this moment forever. I love you, always have and always will. You are my light.”
Beyonce performed to a VIP audience reportedly for a sum of $24 million.
