Meet The Second Female Pilot To Join MEA!

Erica Chbeir is the second female pilot to join Middle East Airlines! This will certainly inspire and encourage young girls to pursue a career in aviation!

Women are a minority in this profession, but this didn’t stop Erica to apply for this position.

Rola Hoteit is MEA’s first female pilot! She studied mathematics at the American University of Beirut and applied to MEA after seeing a newspaper advertisement for a pilot position, according to sources.

At first, her father disapproved of her choice, but he’s very proud of her now.

The first two years of her career were challenging since passengers were not used to seeing women in the cockpit. However, things have changed over time.

My last post on Instagram…. As this year comes to an end, so does my story with Instagram! I had a great time getting to meet (virtually) amazing people all around the globe, and I feel sad to say my last goodbyes to you all! Thanks for all the support and encouragement you gave me! Thanks for all the trust you put in me! But, it’s time for me to say farewell to you all! This year I have to focus on my thesis and few plans that would consume a lot of my time. Hopefully my next post will be wearing the cap and gown in one year time! However, I would like to leave with a small advice dedicated to all future generations as many of my followers are under 25 years old. Cliches like “reach for the stars” and “aim for the sky” may sound simple to you, but look around you and you will spot living examples that guarantee that dreams do come true and there’s no such thing as impossible. I advice you to pursue your dreams but I need to clarify that the journey is never too easy. You need to work hard; you will face obstacles; people will try to discourage you and sometimes you will lose hope! This is when you need to remember that success is around the corner. One more thing, as I said, the journey will not be easy and you will face barriers, but the way you overcome those barriers defines the outcome and defines you! Stay true to yourselves and cling to your morals because at the end of the day you forget the obstacles you faced but you will never shed the effects of how you got there! We are all entitled to fight for our future, but the way we choose to fight defines our identity……. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!?

Rola and Erica are not only challenging stereotypes, but they are also real-life examples of how women can excel in every field if they are passionate and motivated. Congratulations!
