According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in Lebanon, the weather within the mountains and inland areas on Thursday, May 26th, will be cloudy to partially cloudy, with an unseasonal rise in temperature and low fog.

This calls to warn of the possibility of fires spreading in forested areas.

Lebanon suffered a terrible stream of about 100 fires spreading over large forest areas back on October 13th, 2019.

At the time, the lack of expertise and government neglect towards the Civil Defense coping with insufficient equipment had allowed the fires to rage on for days, devouring in their path significant vital green areas of Lebanon.

The Lebanese Civil Defense, formed mostly of volunteers, had to later face the major challenge of the Beirut Blast with not much equipment or support, other than from the people and the diaspora that rushed to unite to donate what they could.

With the warning now of potential fires, it is hoped that the volunteers of the Lebanese Civil Defense are better equipped and supported to tackle these life-threatening situations.
