Following a four-year closure, Metropolis Cinema is set to return stronger than ever, this time with the establishment of its state-of-the-art cinema complex.
The Metropolis Association is gearing up to introduce not just one, but two cinemas, along with a film library, signaling a rejuvenation of the local and regional film industry and emphasizing the enduring significance of cultural endeavors.
Back in 2018, the association kickstarted a new era by moving to Sofil Center, where it quickly became a go-to spot for top-notch screenings and renowned film festivals.
However, after the economic challenges hit hard back in 2019, the Metropolis Cinema faced financial difficulties, forcing a temporary shutdown and interrupting its impressive run in Lebanese cinema.
Now, poised for a triumphant return, the association is set to redefine the cinematic landscape.
This Summer, Metropolis Cinema will unveil its eagerly anticipated theaters and cinematheque in Mar Mikhael, after receiving donations by Unifoncière S.A.L.
This is not the only place that is making a comeback this Summer in Lebanon! In fact, after two years of debate, the Jesuits Garden also reopened, restored through Beit El Baraka’s sponsorship.
This marked a crucial stride in Beirut’s quest for green spaces amid urbanization, just as Metropolis’ reopening marks a happy event for Lebanese cinephiles.
