Michel El-Murr, The Candidate Who Ran Without A Platform To Avoid Accountability, Was Just Elected

The candidate who ran without a platform to avoid accountability, Michel Elias El-Murr, was just elected as a minister in the Lebanese parliament.

Michel Elias El-Murr won the Orthodox parliamentary seat in the Northern Matn district, which was occupied by his late grandfather Michel Murr for decades until his death.

As commonly seen in Lebanon, it was a transition from grandfather to grandson or what is known as “political inheritance” where a person is elected de facto for a seat of power in parliament for being the offspring of a politician.
