The Head of the caretaker government, Najib Mikati, said in an interview that providing electricity 24/7 is the easiest thing to do, but it’s not a one-person decision.
“Regarding the Electricity decrees, the president asked that they be postponed until after the elections,” he said.
PM Mikati agreed under the guise that, since there have been delays for years, another week won’t be an issue.
He explained that the government has received good offers to save the Electricity sector but he did not specify the cost.
He said willing to meet with Energy Minister Walid Fayad next week to issue an exceptional circular and will wait on Fayad to raise the files ahead of the cabinet. He also stated that there will be specified conditions and that he won’t agree to any settlements.
