Monkeypox Tests Are Now Available In Lebanon

On Monday morning, Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Abiad, announced that the β€œMonkeypox test is now available in Lebanon and [they have] prepared special units in hospitals that are different from COVID units for patients.”

Dr. Abiad also talked about the decline in the Hepatitis cases, and the new COVID wave, and reminded the people to get vaccinated.

On June 20th, Lebanon confirmed its first case of Monkeypox, reportedly brought into the country by a foreigner, who was sent to self-isolate once the infection was confirmed.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), symptoms of Monkeypox include a rash and blisters that may spread to parts of the body, as well as headaches, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and body aches.

The virus is contracted when an individual makes direct contact with an infected person through skin lesions and respiratory droplets.
