Nadine Labaki never fails to make us proud! Yesterday, her latest movie Capharnaüm premiered at the 71st edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
The movie is competing for the Palme d’Or which is the highest prize awarded at the festival.
The movie follows 12-year-old Zain who lives in a slum in Lebanon. He is suing his parents for giving him life when they knew they couldn’t cover his basic necessities such as food, safety, and even a state I.D. card.
The screening was followed by a massive 15-minute standing ovation! Many movie critics are expecting Capharnaüm to earn the Palme d’Or!

If the movie wins the Palme D’or, Nadine Labaki will become the second female director to win the prize following Jane Campion for “The Piano,” according to sources.
