Renowned Lebanese entertainer Nadine Labaki, celebrated for her acting, directing, and activism, joins the jury for the 80th Venice International Film Festival.
The festival takes place from August 30th to September 9th.
Renowned for her roles, Labaki joins the jury’s new Impact Award, a rarity among major festivals, focusing solely on societal influence.
This jury, including Labaki, evaluates films for artistic innovation, global relevance, and potential to inspire tangible action.
Labaki’s co-jurors are notable too: French actress Elsa Zylberstein, Mexican star Yalitza Aparicio, British-Nigerian talent Misan Sagay, and Italian filmmaker Stefano Savona, Variety reports.
The festival, tracing back to 1932, remains a cinematic cornerstone, annually uniting esteemed directors and actors on a singular stage.
