The former NBA star Nate Robinson signed a one-year contract with Homenetmen of the Lebanese Basketball League, according to a source.

He will play in Lebanon until at least mid-April. The basketball player, who is currently playing in the BIG3 league, hopes to return to the NBA.

The Seattle native began his career in the University of Washington where he played college basketball. He was the 21st pick in the 2005 NBA draft. Robinson averaged 11 points and three assists in his career.

The NBA’s first three-time slam dunk champion played for the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Delaware 87ers, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Doc Rivers, who coached the 34-year-old point guard with the Celtics, told the Bleacher Report: “Pound for pound, he is one of the best athletes I’ve ever been around. It’s rare when a guy that is small also has power.”

Robinson had the opportunity to play proffesionally abroad twice before joining Homenetmen. He played for Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2016 and Venezuela’s Guaros de Lara in 2017.

The basketball player’s attitude jeopardized his career in the NBA. The NBA gave me my depression,” he told the Bleacher Report. “I’ve never been a depressed person in my life.

Robinson went to therapy and questioned his life choices. He wondered if a career in football would have been more suitable for him.

“But the hardest thing in my whole life, of my 34 years in existence on earth, was dealing with 11 years in the NBA of trying to be somebody that [NBA coaches] want me to be,” he said.

After changing his habits and reflecting more on life, Robinson is determined to revive his basketball career and join the NBA again.
