A couple of months ago, the Lebanese University (LU) was ranked among the top in the world. Now, it surprised itself with other international achievements.
For the first time in its history, the Lebanese University was on this year’s classification of the British institution QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) that specializes in higher education.
LU was able to reserve an advanced place among the international universities (701/750) out of more than one thousand universities.
That’s despite that it was classified according to data for only one year when other universities participated in the classification for several years.
However, data from one year were sufficient for the Lebanese University to be ranked 25 in the region. View the full results here.
In addition, QS ranked LU among the best 8 universities in Lebanon for the year 2021, with AUB taking the lead followed by the University of Balamand and Saint-Joseph University. Here’s the list:

- University of Balamand (world rank 501-510)
- Saint Joseph University of Beirut USJ (world rank 541-550)
- Lebanese American University LAU (world rank 551-560)
- Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (world rank 601-650)
- Lebanese University (world rank 701-750)
- Notre Dame University NDU (world rank 701-750)
- Beirut Arab University BAU (world rank 801 – 1000)
Noting that QS had previously ranked AUB first in the MENA region for two consecutive years.
