New American Census now includes ‘Lebanese’ as an ethnic race

Some examples of origins include “German,” “Irish,” “English,” “Italian,” “Lebanese,” and “Egyptian.” The suggested origins are among America’s largest populations that have European, Middle Eastern, and North African heritage. The Census Bureau is adding the write-in area to address community concerns. People are calling for detailed questions to be able to report their identities more accurately. A lot of advocates are pushing the U.S. Census Bureau to include a MENA category. The executive director of the Arab American Institute, Maya Berry, believes that a more detailed questionnaire “could help improve access to health research and language assistance for the MENA population,” according to
