Beirut is getting a new history museum!

Prime Minister Saad Hariri has announced plans for a new history museum which will be located in Downtown Beirut, according to

. Beirut Historical Museum will house archaeological artifacts from multiple of civilizations starting from the Bronze Age. The famous Italian architect and engineer Renzo Piano will design the museum. Piano also designed many world-famous buildings such as the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, The Shard in London, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. The seven-story museum will cover an area of 12,000 square meters. The stone and glass building will be complete in 3 years. In his speech, Hariri said: “As we build a modern city, we are keen to preserve the heritage, because preserving identity and history is a solid foundation for building the future.”
