Municipality of Jbeil bans use of plastic bags

Jbeil is setting a powerful example to the municipalities in Lebanon! The Municipality of Jbeil is banning plastic bags to become more environmentally friendly. It is asking the owners of establishments, shops, restaurants, and grocery stores to replace plastic bags with eco-friendly ones that are made of biodegradable material or recyclable fabric by the end of this year. The most sustainable method to get things back to normal is to recycle and use eco-friendly materials. Starbucks, like many other restaurants and coffee shops, recently announced that it is planning to eliminate plastic straws from its stores by 2020. The straws will be replaced by sippy cups.

Other companies that are working to cut down their environmental footprints are Hyatt, American Airlines, Hilton Hotels, Alaska Airlines, Mariott International UK, Royal Caribbean, and SeaWorld Entertainment, and many more.
