Municipality of Jbeil bans use of plastic bags

Jbeil is setting a powerful example to the municipalities in Lebanon!

The Municipality of Jbeil is banning plastic bags to become more environmentally friendly. It is asking the owners of establishments, shops, restaurants, and grocery stores to replace plastic bags with eco-friendly ones that are made of biodegradable material or recyclable fabric by the end of this year.

The main reason behind this initiative is the garbage crisis in Lebanon. The government still doesn't have a plan to end this crisis.

The most sustainable method to get things back to normal is to recycle and use eco-friendly materials.

Starbucks, like many other restaurants and coffee shops, recently announced that it is planning to eliminate plastic straws from its stores by 2020. The straws will be replaced by sippy cups.

Underground waste containers are popping in Beirut. These bins save space, isolate the waste odor, and ensure a clean and hygienic environment.

They are used in many developed countries.
