Paternity leave might get extended to three days in Lebanon

The government recently approved a three-day paid paternity leave. It still needs to go before the full parliament before it is enacted and considered an enforceable law. The extension of the paternity leave was initiated by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. The leave will be optional. Maternity leaves in Lebanon last for ten weeks. In other countries, paternity and maternity leaves last more. In Ireland for instance, fathers and mothers have a three-months leave each in addition to three additional months which they can share. Three days might not be enough, but it’s still better than taking a break for one day only.
