Out of over 100 applicants, 45 have been shortlisted for the next round of public voting. And Lebanon has a share in the finalists!
The International Team for Implantology (ITI) is a 40-year-old global association of professionals in the implant dentistry. In addition to offering more than 17,000 grants and fellowships across the world, the ITI supports the advancement of innovative methods in dental treatment by hosting an annual symposium.
The medical symposium includes a global 'Call For Speakers' where specialists and talented speakers under the age of 40 vie for a chance to win the privilege of presenting at the event.
This year, Lebanon's very own Dr. Elie Jobaili and Dr. Hussein Basma made their pitches and were selected from over a hundred applicants to participate in the competition. The academic hopefuls now await your supporting votes!
The competition has just entered its second round. From April 1 to July 1, you can vote for your favorite video pitch. The number of likes, the scientific content, and how it is presented will decide which videos make it to the final and to the Breakout Sessions of the World Symposium.
Luckily, you can vote for multiple entries, but it is important to note that only one vote per wifi network (IP address) is counted.
According to the ITI, implant dentistry is driven by evidence-based technological and medical innovation. However, an equally important aspect of treatment planning is done with patients and must be tailored to their individual needs and life situations.
As such, the chosen theme of this year's talks is Evidence & Trends for Patient-Centered Solutions: The Challenge of Choice. And our smart doctors delivered successfully!
Hailing from the South Lebanese city of Tyre, Dr. Hussein Basma is an alumnus and a teaching assistant of the University of Alabama. His proposal is a 'novel radiographic methodology to evaluate ridge dimensional changes following ridge augmentation procedures.'
Dr. Elie Jobaili is a practicing dentist specialized in periodontistry, which centers in diagnosing, preventing, and treating gum and teeth diseases. His pitch involved 'bone remodeling around bone level implants placed with different insertion torques.'
