Lebanese President Urging Women To Engage In Politics

The committee members of the National Commission For Lebanese Women (NCLW) visited President Michel Aoun on Tuesday and had a meeting where they discussed the rights of Lebanese women. Also, the committee thanked the Lebanese President for abolishing Article 522 of the penal code, which is also known as the 

“marry the rapist” law

. He also mentioned that he is paying a lot of attention to the women’s affairs in Lebanon. The committee informed the President that it is working on a law that will fully protect Lebanese women. The NCLW is an official institution. The members of its General Assembly are appointed by the Council of ministers. NCLW aims at protecting the rights of Lebanese women and creating a gender balance in Lebanon.
