The Lebanese Minister of Environment, Nasser Yassin, met representatives of the Lebanese army, the ministries of interior, health and environment, the fire brigade, and the Beirut municipality, to discuss how to deal with the rubble of the Beirut port silos, put out the fire, and treat the existing grain.

First, as of today, the general safety principles that must be followed in dealing with the rubble area have been established by all site workers in terms of not being exposed to any risks.

The cooling process will start with the Beirut Fire Brigade, and it will develop the full plan for the cooling process, provided that it will continue over a period of at least 4 or 5 days, including the preparation of tools for drawing water from the sea and water cannons.

Work to remove all the existing rubble began in practical steps in cooperation with UN-Habitat under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works to raise the large parts to be treated in an environmental manner and to be crushed.

When the rubble is removed, the grains will be treated in a safe manner by spraying them with anti-fungal materials and then treating them in an environmentally sound manner.
