Promenade of Gibran Khalil Gibran Inaugurated in France!

President Michel Aoun went to France for a three-day state visit in September. He met President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace, and also met with the Lebanese Diaspora.

During this visit, the “Promenade Gibran Khalil Gibran” was inaugurated on September 26 with the presence of the First Lady of Lebanon Mrs. Nadia Aoun, Mayor of Paris Mrs. Anne Hidalgo, and the Mayor of the 15th arrondissement of Paris, Mr. Philippe Goujon. It is located on the 26 Quai André Citroën.

Goujon highlighted the importance of the relationship between Lebanon and France. In fact, France is the home of many Lebanese people who fled the Lebanese civil war.

Also, he mentioned that the Lebanese author, painter, and philosopher Gibran Khalil Gibran is one of the most prominent figures in this era even in the West where his book “The Prophet” was translated into more than 40 languages.

The state visit of the Lebanese president was the perfect opportunity to inaugurate this promenade and to honor the Lebanese author that did impact not only the Middle East but also the entire world.

In fact, “Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet” is an animated feature film which is based on the book. It was produced by Salma Hayek, a Mexican actress of Lebanese descent.

This promenade honors Gibran Khalil Gibran as well as the Lebanese culture.
