Speaking to “Voice of All Lebanon,” PSP MP Hadi Abu al Hassan called for effective international assistance to investigate the explosion at the Beirut port.
He said what is needed is an international fact-finding committee and dropping everyone’s immunities – instead of turning the file into an arena of regional disputes.
He pointed out that the political dispute had moved into the judicial body, adding that everyone has forgotten how the port was blown up and who brought the nitrates.
He emphasized the need to unify the judicial body and urged all officials to give space to the Supreme Judicial Council to uncover the truth.
Abu Al-Hassan underlined that the truth must be revealed, and the responsibility for the explosion should be identified.
He said that “If the judiciary is broken, the prestige is broken, and it is unacceptable that the truth falls and that it is not known who blew up the Beirut port.”
He called on the international community to provide effective assistance in the investigation to ensure that justice is served for the victims of the explosion and their families.
In addition, he highlighted the importance of the judicial system in maintaining peace and stability in the country, and emphasized that the judicial system must be free from political interference.
He urged all political factions and officials to put aside their differences and work together to uncover the truth, and to support the Supreme Judicial Council in its efforts to find the truth.
Judge Tarek Bitar has come under heavy attack for resuming his investigative work into the Beirut Port blast and charging 8 high-profile officials and judges.
