The Minister of Labor, Mustafa Bayram, will reportedly propose a significant raise to the public sector salaries that could amount to 5 times the current wage.
According to local reports, Bayram will submit his proposals to Prime Minister Najib Mikati, to increase the transportation allowance of public sector employees, amounting to 210,000 LBP.
The proposals aim to also gradually increase public sector wages until July 2023.
If financed by the customs dollar, this raise could bring the new wages to 5 times more than the current wage.
