On Monday morning, Lebanese retired armed forces staged a sit-in in front of the Lebanese Central Bank’s headquarters in Baalbek to contest their living conditions.
They announced the protest on Sunday where they called on others to join them in all regions in Lebanon.
Here are the demands of the protesters:
- Cancellation of the judges’ salaries adjustment that allows them to withdraw their wages at the exchange rate of LL8,000/USD.
- Increase in salaries of all the public sector employees.
- Provision of medical coverage.
- Increase in school aid.
- Restoration of money deposits that have been frozen since the start of the economic crisis in October 2019.
Recently, Lebanon has been witnessing several strikes and sit-ins from public sector employees, all demanding for their working and living conditions to be improved.
