Reuters just announced that following his meeting with Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Lebanon’s finance ministry led by minister Hassan Khalil just announced that “they had agreed on a final budget that did not include any additional taxes or fees in a bid to appease nationwide protests.”
This comes upon the ultimatum of PM Hariri for his government to solve the crisis in 72 hours at the most. The announcement of the Minister of Finance was followed by a tweet from President Aoun about a reassuring solution to the economic crisis, a reassurance he has given to a delegation of protesters he met recently in his headquarters.
Meanwhile, the protests continue to unfurl and spread across Lebanon, with an estimated unconfirmed number of 1.2 million protesters in Lebanon alone. We hold our breaths, praying for the best for Lebanon, and peace in all its regions.
