Rima Karameh is an Associate Professor in Educational Administration, Policies, and Leadership at the American University of Beirut.
Karameh earned a Bachelor’s degree in science and a diploma in teaching secondary-level science, followed by a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Science Teaching from the American University of Beirut.
She further pursued her academic career with a PhD in Education from the University of Portland in Oregon, specializing in educational administration and supervision for K-12 levels, with a focus on school management, organizational change, and educational policy.
Throughout her career, Karameh has held several notable positions in education. She served as the Head of the Department of Education at the American University of Beirut and chaired the Executive Committee of the Arab Educational Information Network, “Sham’a.”
Additionally, she was a member of the Lebanese Educational Sciences Authority and served as a consultant for the “Dirasati” project and the Educational Administration Project at the Lebanese Ministry of Education.
Karameh also led the “Tamam” project, a collaborative research initiative established through a memorandum of understanding between the Arab Thought Foundation and the American University of Beirut. This project aimed to initiate school reform and explore ways to build leadership capacity for sustainable improvement in schools.
In addition, she has designed and delivered a wide range of professional development activities for school principals and supervisors, both independently and as part of broader educational reform initiatives.
