In the wake of the Beirut Port Explosion, Rotary clubs in Lebanon mobilized to secure necessary assistance to those in need, from families affected by the blast to schools and hospitals.
In one of the initiatives, the Rotaract Club of Beirut Metropolitan quickly got in touch with a Rotary club in France that, in response, contacted a list of clubs and donors, including Lebanese expatriates, doctors, French clubs, and more.
It succeeded to secure the provision of 10 tons of medical equipment worth 100,000 Euros (121,000 USD) for Lebanon. The donation was distributed in stages to many hospitals and NGOs across Lebanon.
The beneficiaries included Saint George Hospital University Medical Center, Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui, LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital, Beirut Governmental Hospital – Karantina, Arc En Ciel Association, Société de Saint Vincent de Paul, the Civil Defense, prisons, an elderly home in Mansouriya, and more.
The last stage of the distribution was carried out on Saturday.
