On Monday, following the news of the forest fire in Roumieh, Metn, Kataeb MP Elias Hankach deemed the fire as a deliberate act after the inspection of the site.

According to the state-run NNA, he stated, “We have documents that show that the fire was premeditated, and the municipality arrested people carrying out woodcutting work in the Roumieh woods, and then released them later.”

“It is difficult to reach the place where the fire started, especially since the winds impede the extinguishing process”, he added.

The MP also thanked the volunteers and the Lebanese army for helping put out the fire.

MTV reported that the Broummana Police arrived at the site to listen to the testimonies of the municipal police.

Lebanon has been witnessing a rise in fire breakouts with one that erupted in Beirut Port silos on Thursday night and another that broke out in a carpet factory in South Lebanon on Friday.
