The Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Boukhari, said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is eager on helping the Lebanese people during the hard circumstances that Lebanon is going through.
He also highlighted the re-initiation of relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia during a meeting with President Michel Aoun at the Baabda Palace.
He stated that his country is now working on new procedures with France to gather humanitarian funds for the development and stability of Lebanon.
Last Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Saudi Arabia officially announced the return of its ambassador to Lebanon.
Its statement issued that the decision comes “in response to the calls and appeals of moderate national political forces in Lebanon” and the commitment of PM Najib Mikati to take the required measures to enhance cooperation with Saudi Arabia and the GCC states.
These measures include stopping “all political, military, and security activities affecting” Saudi Arabia and the GCC states.
The Saudi Ministry also emphasized the importance of the return of Lebanon to its Arab depth, wishing the country to maintain security and peace, and “that its people enjoy stability and security in its homeland.”
Lebanon’s Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, welcomed the decision of Saudi Arabia, affirming that Lebanon is proud of its Arab connections, and wants the best relationship with the Gulf countries.
