Award-winning singer and songwriter Shakira just arrived in Beirut with her two kids. She will perform at the grand opening of the Cedars International Festival tomorrow as part of her El Dorado World Tour.
“I am so happy to be in Lebanon, the land of my ancestors,” she said.
Shakira’s performance would be in line with the festival’s goal which is to promote and honor national icons, symbols, and Lebanese World Heritage Sites: Qadisha Valley, Cedars of God, Byblos, Tyre, Anjar, and Baalbek.
El Dorado, Shakira’s 11th album, hit number one on iTunes in 37 countries and held five of the top ten spots on the iTunes Latino Chart within hours of its release.
Shakira first visited Lebanon in 2011. Her paternal grandparents emigrated from Lebanon to New York. When her father was five years old, the family moved to Colombia. She dedicated the concert to her father.
