Summer 2018 just got more exciting! The award-winning singer and songwriter Shakira will perform at the grand opening of the Cedars International Festival (CIF) on July 13 as part of her El Dorado World Tour. In a statement, CIF
that Shakira’s performance would be in line with the festival’s goal which is to promote and honor national icons, symbols, and Lebanese World Heritage Sites: Qadisha Valley, Cedars of God, Byblos, Tyre, Anjar, and Baalbek. The event’s organizers are expecting to attract over 14,000 people at the opening ceremony. El Dorado, Shakira’s 11th album, hit number one on iTunes in 37 countries and held five of the top ten spots on the iTunes Latino Chart within hours of its release. The album won the following awards: Best Latin Pop Album in 2018 (Grammy Award), Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album in 2017 (Latin Grammy Award), Latin Album of the Year in 2018 (iHeartRadio Music Awards), Latin Pop Album of the Year in 2018 (Latin Billboard Music Awards).
