We spoke to the American daredevil that walked the line at Raouche!

The American slackliner Alex Mason set up a 36-meter-long highline which is 40 meters above sea level and

beat his slacklining record at Raouche

! Alex is the first person in the history of slacklining to cross from one rock to the other! This achievement happened in the heart of Beirut! So, we reached out to him and asked him a few questions about his experience!

How is this sport helping you on a personal level?

The sport has helped me travel the world, meet new people, and has given me a purpose. It has helped me focus on my goals, push my comfort zone, and improve every part of my personal life.

What are the main challenges in slacklining?

The main challenge has always been to push the sport to new heights. Whether that means pushing my physical fitness or mentally pushing through fear, the goal has always been to further slacklining as a whole. https://www.instagram.com/p/BaKS_8XgzB6/?hl=en&taken-by=alexomason

Would you recommend Raouche as a highlining destination?

Raouche is a beautiful landmark, but it is also seemingly made for a highline. The two pillars rising out of the ocean attracted my attention.

What did you feel before and after the slacklining project in Beirut?

The project was very intense for me. Before the project, I was very nervous and even worried. Everything had to go right. After the project, I was more of a sense of pure happiness and relief.

Do you see yourself slacklining in other regions of Lebanon? What about other sports?

Lebanon is an amazing country for all sorts of adventure sports from slacklining to base-jumping. I could see Andy Lewis and me returning for many more projects. https://www.instagram.com/p/BaEu8g7As49/?hl=en&taken-by=alexomason

World-renowned slackliner Andy Lewin slacklining in Balou’ Balaa! What was your favorite part of your trip to Lebanon (besides breaking your record)?

My favorite part of my trip was getting to experience the culture, food, and wonderful people I got to meet along the way. Everyone was more than polite, and everything I experienced was new and interesting. https://www.instagram.com/p/BaCmQ9BAcd4/?hl=en&taken-by=alexomason
