Breaking: Sports and Scouts Activities in Lebanon Suspended Due to Coronavirus

The Lebanese Minister of Sports and Youth, Vartine Ohanian, instructed all sports and scout associations and clubs to suspend their activities for a designate time, for health concerns.

“Based on coordination and consultation with the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Youth and Sports calls on sporting and scouting unions, and associations clubs to suspend all sorts of activities until the end of the current month of March,” Minister Ohanian stated on Friday.

The minister said that this decision comes as a preventive measure to protect Lebanese scouts, athletes, coaches, administrators, and the general public from contracting the spreading coronavirus (COVID-19).

On Friday, March 6th, the Ministry of Public Health announced 6 new cases of the virus, bringing the total number of infected individuals in Lebanon to 22.

On the same day, Minister Hamad Hasan declared that the “containment phase” of the virus was over.
