Lebanese actress Stephanie Saliba was detained on Friday following an interrogation over Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh’s corruption investigation.
Saliba appeared at the prosecutor’s office in Beirut on Friday for questioning, but Financial Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim ordered that she be taken into custody. The report did not state why she was arrested.
Judge Iman Abdallah, who was conducting an investigation, allegedly questioned Saliba about “illicit enrichment and money laundering.”
Mount Lebanon Prosecutor Judge Ghada Aoun issued a search warrant for Saliba’s home earlier this week as part of her investigation of Salameh. She later issued an order to the actress to be brought in for questioning regarding Salameh’s alleged money laundering and embezzlement.
