On Sunday, the famous Syrian singer Assala Nasri got arrested at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport for possessing 5.2 grams of cocaine. The substance was found in her makeup bag. Assala denied that she held this drug and claimed that somebody else must have slipped it in her bag to harm her. She took a drug test which turned out to be positive. Judge Claude Karam released her on bail. Also, the investigation is ongoing to find the source of the drug. She was eventually allowed to travel to Egypt under one condition which is to take another drug test there.
Translation: “The Lebanese authorities imprisoned an old lady for 10 days because she built a room. They did not take into consideration that she has cancer. Meanwhile, a drug trafficker got released after 10 hours just because she’s an artist. #farce”
