“The Insult” Film At The Top Of The Box Office In Lebanon!

The 90th Academy Awards, also known as The Oscars, will take place next year on March 4.

A movie called “The Insult,” which is directed by the renowned Lebanese director Ziad Doueiri, will represent Lebanon in the “Best Foreign Language Film” category.

In fact, the screening of the movie at the Venice Film Festival was followed by a 5-minute standing ovation.

“The Insult” tops the Lebanese box office

This movie did not only find a huge success abroad. In fact, “The Insult” tops the box office in Lebanon, taking almost 50% of total film admissions.

According to sources, approximately 70,000 people watched the movie, meaning that the film generated nearly $59,000 in ticket sales.

During its opening week, it took 44% of all movie admissions which led the film to top the box office immediately.

Recently, Ziad Doueiri received the “Best Arab Talent of the Year” Award for 2017 from Variety magazine before the screening of “The Insult” at the El-Gouna Film Festival in Egypt.

The spokesman of Variety magazine said: “Some directors are courageous, and others are talented. However, Ziad Doueiri has both of these qualities.”

“The Insult” is now showing at movie theaters across Lebanon.
