Lebanese Agriculture Minister Abbas Hajj Hassan highlighted the extensive devastation inflicted by Israeli actions on agricultural and other sectors in South Lebanon, estimating the total damage to exceed 3 billion U.S. dollars.
Minister Hassan underscored the challenge of ascertaining the impact of soil conditions on agricultural productivity amidst ongoing hostiles.
He stressed the necessity of conducting thorough scientific studies to obtain accurate assessments once the conflict subsides.
Furthermore, Minister Hassan emphasized the ministry’s commitment to providing daily updates on the situation, utilizing a comprehensive map that delineates both direct and indirect damages incurred by southern towns subjected to attacks.
“We have established a prepared committee to investigate the soil conditions once the Israeli attacks cease […]” he remarked, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to plant ten trees for every tree burned by the enemy.
Additionally, he unveiled plans for the enhancement of the fish sector, supported by Norwegian funding totaling approximately two million U.S. dollars, while urging Arab investors to consider supporting Lebanese agricultural initiatives.
