Developed by Dubai developer Emaar, this new attraction will unveil 400 stars at the launching in October of this year, with celebrities voted by the public in a global social media campaign. The project will then see a total of 10,000 Dubai Stars lit up Downtown Dubai. It is actually expected to be four times bigger and more impressive than the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

While most of the 400 celebrities are still a mystery, four Lebanese names have been revealed, and these are our four icons that will have their star in Dubai’s version of Hollywood’s Walk of Fame:

Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab was the first person announced to receive a Dubai Star. The star was presented to him by Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar as he announced the company’s first partnership with Saab on its Emaar Beachfront project in Dubai.

Elie Saab is one of the biggest Lebanese names in the international world of fashion. He started his business in the early 1980s, specializing in bridal couture.

He then rose to prominent fame in 2002 when he dressed up Halle Berry for the Oscars, where she made history as she became the first black women to win the Best Actress award. Ever since then, he has been designing for the world most famous celebrities.

#2 Nancy Ajram:

Nancy Ajram is a music icon in the Arab world, with 8 studio albums to date and numerous other chart-toppers in a career which spanned over 20 years. Her concert Badna Nwalee El Jaw was a hitmaker with several sold-out concerts in Dubai.

Unsurprisingly, Lebanon music legend Fairouz is being honored with her star on the walk of fame in downtown Dubai. With over a period of 83 years, Fairouz sold more than 80 million records worldwide, according to Forbes.

For decades, she was the main singer in all the musicals produced by the Rahbani Brothers. She has also performed on world stages, ranging from the Opera de Paris, and the Royal Albert Hall in London to Carnegie Hall in New York.

Fairouz was titled the All-Time Great singer by Forbes Middle East. This is in addition to honoring nicknames she has been awarded, like Lebanon’s Ambassador to the Stars, The Moon’s Neighbor, and The Jewel of Lebanon.

#4 Gibran Khalil Gibran

Gibran Khalil Gibran is Lebanon’s most prominent writer, poet, philosopher, and painter. That native of Lebanon who has conquered the world with his philosophy and writing is remembered as one of the great visionaries of his time, and is among the three most-read authors worldwide, along with Shakespeare and Sufi.

A Start in downtown Dubai’s hall of fame will be honoring Lebanon’s greatest philosopher for his inspiring and outstanding work. Gibran Khalil Gibran’s words and paintings still dazzle the world. The Lebanese people deem him a national symbol; a giant that still needs to be duly honored by his own native country.
