Police in Gemmayzeh, one of the areas most affected by the Beirut explosion, arrested two thieves driving a truck loaded with iron, aluminum, and other materials that were stolen from some areas surrounding the Port of Beirut, the place of the explosion.
In another incident, police caught another person red-handed stealing from inside one of the cars affected by the explosion and parked in Mar Mikhael. This thief was also in possession of drugs and a knife.
Security measures at the entrances of Gemmayzeh and Mar Mikhael are being reinforced in order to control thefts.
These measures are also being taken by authorities to protect what is left from people’s homes, belongings, and livelihood.
Police now continue foot patrols around the clock in the city of Beirut, especially in the areas and streets affected by the explosion.
