The Minister of Tourism, Walid Nassar, announced a new decree on Thursday, to allow touristic institutions to charge their menus in US dollars, with the final invoice issued in Lebanese lira and US dollars.
The temporary decree aims to ease the current economic crisis and stabilize exchange rates.
Nassar said in a statement that by “the exceptional circumstances the country is going through,” the ministry will “exceptionally and optionally” allow tourist establishments to announce their price lists in US dollars from Thursday, June 2, 2022, until the end of September 2022.
This move might increase competition between tourist institutions and will attract more tourists to spend their summer vacations in Lebanon, which will help the country’s economy.
