Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay announced this week that Ankara is ready to deploy its troops to support Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh if a request was made by Baku.

Since September 27th, when clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenian forces broke out in Nagorno-Karabakh, Turkey has been extremely confident in publicly showcasing its support for Baku.

Oktay said in a televised interview with CNN Turk that the Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan announced his willingness to support Azerbaijan on the very first day of the unprecedented clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Oktay noted that no such requests have been made at the moment. However, he added in his interview that “Turkey does not hesitate and our president does not hesitate” to help if asked.
