Grenades Offensive In Ain El Remmaneh Woke Up Residents At Dawn

Residents of Ain El Remmaneh, in Beirut, woke up very early on Thursday at the alarming sound of two explosions caused by grenades thrown in the residential district by unknown assailants.

No human casualties were reported. The aggression caused damages to cars and shattered shops’ glass windows.

Lebanon’s security forces worked to secure a security cordon at the scene and investigations were launched.

It has been reported so far that the aggression was due to some electoral billboards found in the area, which incited a fight that then led to the grenades’ offensive at dawn.

Ain El Remmaneh being a sensitive district due to its historic event that had triggered the Civil War in 1975, speculations have been circulating around this aggression on Thursday.

Some speculate that it is an attempt to create a security issue that could postpone the May 15 elections and others believe that it is meant to intimidate the residents, also in regards to the elections.
