The explosion that struck the nation left Beirut shocked and in pain.

Thousands of people are homeless after entire buildings became uninhabitable. Hundreds are missing. The death toll has reached over 160 victims. And, unfortunately, many children were left orphaned…

Watching the situation closely, the UAE has decided to sponsor children whose parents have perished due to the Beirut explosion.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, has directed the Emirates Red Crescent to sponsor orphans and care for the families of the deceased and the victims of the Beirut Port explosion.

The Emirates Red Crescent along with the Humanitarian Aid Office of the UAE Embassy in Beirut is currently collecting the names of orphans and identifying the affected families who are in dire need of support.

The sponsorship will cover the provision of basic needs for those families and will also contribute to restoring their homes and attending to damaged property.

Along with lighting up Burj Khalifa with the Lebanese flag, the UAE has provided immediate medical support in response to Beirut’s disaster.

Countries around the world have been aiding the victims of the blast and sending help to Beirut. There is still a long way to go on the journey of recovery.
