“The Missing Peace” campaign of UN Women Lebanon, launched in partnership with Twitter MENA, LBCI, and Annahar, has won two awards at the Gerety Awards.

The Gerety Awards is a creative prize that holds a benchmark in the field of advertising and creative communications.

“The Missing Peace” won a Gold award in Media Cut as well as a Bronze medal in Work For Good Cut.

The campaign was launched in support of women’s empowerment while shedding the light on the importance of integrating women into dialogue, and also acknowledging their equal participation in finding sustainable outcomes.

It was first launched on Twitter in both English and Arabic languages, through the hashtags #TheMissingPeace (مش_حرف_ناقص#).

UN Women proceeded to remove half of the letters from its tweets, as well as from both broadcast and print media, allowing the people to experience a visually dysfunctional public dialogue.

“For years, the fate of this country and its people has been in the hands of half of the population: Men […], Women are almost absent from the table, meaning that 50% are excluded from the decision processes that govern their lives and country,” UN Women stated.
