The US Embassy in Lebanon has not only authorized the departure of non-essential staff and their families but is also strongly urging American citizens to leave the country.
The State Department has escalated its travel advisory for Lebanon to the highest level, advising, “Do not travel to Lebanon.”
The embassy further recommends that U.S. citizens in Lebanon make appropriate arrangements to leave the country using commercial options, which currently remain available.
Those who choose not to depart are advised to prepare contingency plans for emergency situations.
