USAID has contracted IMC Worldwide, Inc. with the aim of providing reliable energy across all Lebanese regions while increasing the sustainability, eco-friendliness, and cost-effectiveness, of the power supply at the community level.

The IMC is now tasked to implement the Innovation for Affordable and Renewable Energy for All (INARA) Activity under the IDEAS project, an Initiative to Deliver Essential Assistance and Services, and which budget amounts to $29 million.

As Lebanon struggles with a shortage of power, USAID is offering this project to help out. The project has for purpose to increase the supply of electricity and improve the delivery of basic services.

“We believe that projects like this are important to energize communities to seek out affordable, sustainable, local solutions to challenges they face every day,” USAID Mission Director Eileen Devitt said, expressing her excitement at the introduction of this new project.

It is worth noting that, since 2012, USAID has achieved more than 15 green energy solutions in Lebanon, reducing fuel consumption by 30%. According to its estimation, these projects have minimized pollution for nearly one million people.

USAID has currently over 20 other projects related to backup electricity and access to water that are under implementation across Lebanon.
